Jayna Mistry is a self-taught contemporary fluid abstract artist based in Central Massachusetts and the visionary behind art(M)istry. Her work explores the harmony of color and movement, resulting in vibrant, flowing compositions that evoke tranquility, spontaneity, and emotional connection.
Inspired by nature’s patterns and the beauty of everyday moments, Jayna uses an intuitive, experimental process to guide paint into organic forms that feel both bold and serene. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind journey — a blend of energy, emotion, and surrender — created to stir the soul and transform any space.
Jayna’s creative path began early, shaped by a curious spirit and love for artistic expression. After exploring various mediums, she discovered fluid art in 2019 and was instantly captivated by its freedom and unpredictability. What began as a therapeutic outlet soon became a lifeline. In 2023, after the heartbreaking loss of her father and a health crisis with her husband, painting became her solace — a grounding force that brought peace during chaos. That year redefined her purpose: life is too short not to pursue what moves you.
Embracing that clarity, Jayna began sharing her art publicly. She debuted her first solo show, Expressions: Colors in Motion, in June 2024, followed by a feature in the Advancing Belonging Together exhibit at UMass Chan Medical School.
Originally from a traditional Indian family in the UK, Jayna blends her Eastern roots with Western influences — a duality she continues to explore through future collections. After moving to the U.S. in 2000 with her husband and two children, she balanced motherhood with creativity, building a home-based scrapbooking business before returning to school to earn her MBA. Her journey reflects a lifelong commitment to growth, creativity, and connection — values instilled by her late father, whose spirit remains a quiet muse in her work.
Through art(M)istry, Jayna invites you to experience art that flows beyond the canvas — into the heart, the home, and the story of your life.
Artist Statement
My art is a reflection of life’s rhythms — fluid, unpredictable, yet beautifully connected. I create intuitively, allowing paint to flow freely across the canvas, capturing emotion through movement and harmony through color.
Inspired by nature and personal transformation, each piece is an exploration of spontaneity, balance, and presence. Through the layering and blending of color, I surrender control and embrace the unexpected — a process that mirrors life itself.
Art became my sanctuary during a difficult year of personal loss and healing. Now, it’s a gift I share with others — inviting calm, curiosity, and a moment of peace in an otherwise chaotic world. Whether in a home, office, or healing space, my work is created to bring beauty, meaning, and emotional resonance into the spaces we inhabit.
